Introduction

In this guide we'll show you how to identify and fit an Abloy EL560

The identification of Abloy electric locks is

straightforward as they have the model number stamped on the faceplate as below.

Part1

To fit these locks we suggest the following tools will be required:

https://www.duffells.com/souber-long-drill-system.html

https://www.duffells.com/souber-dbb-mk2-mortice-jig.html

It is possible without the mortice jig but will take at least double the time the time to fit.

We suggest removing the door after fitting the lock 1st fix too.

fit the door loop in the back edge of the door

https://www.duffells.com/tss-concealed-door-loop-for-timber-doors-&-frames.html

Once this is fitted to the door connect the wiring harness to the lock and run the cable through the door and through the door loop and fit door furniture.

Re Hang door run cable through frame for connection to access control system( Leave coil of spare cable to allow removal of door Cable tie and leave neat)

Issues to look out for:

Incorrect assembly of split spindle handles.

Handles should be solidly joined together if not the split spindle spring has been incorrectly inserted, disassemble and follow the instructions precisely.

Either too large or too small a gap between door edge and frame.

Solution  is either adjust hinge side if too large a gap or adjust Keep if too tight to the lock.

Correct spacing is 2mm the locks are fussy and tend not to release the deadbolt when closing if this is not correct.

If everything is done correctly these are quality locks and tend not to fail even under some heave and extreme use.

OPERATION

When not authorised to open the outside bolt though handle which operates on a split spindle is inactive but will move freely without opening the door. when signal received from access control, Fire control box etc then the outside handle will open the lock once only.
